McGinley Support Services Ltd today announces its Rail Apprentice Placement Scheme for young people wanting to secure employment in the rail sector.
McGinley currently engage over three thousand workers and have regular vacancies for new staff.
Sean McGinley said:
“We take a long term view when it comes to helping the rail industry solve its skill shortage issues. There are a number organisations training rail apprentices at present but not all of them are effective at connecting young people with sustainable jobs at the end of their training. We know that the rail sector needs trainees, but to minimise travel and fatigue, we want to ensure that our apprentices live close to real long term work opportunities. With customer support we aim to place apprentices exactly where and when the industry needs them over the coming years. We’ll work with and guide training organisations taking suitable young people on supervised, paid placements with us during their apprenticeships; if they perform well, they will be guaranteed sustainable work through us when their apprenticeship is completed.”
McGinley Support Services Ltd has today released information of the scheme to rail training organisations and is looking to have its first partners up and running by January 2014 with the first placements for young people starting soon after.

With the ladies set to enter the FA Women’s Super League in March 2014, the McGinley Support Services logo will be printed across the front of the First Team, Reserves and Development Team kits, with the company joining Watford Ladies FC as the main sponsor for the entire Girl’s & Women’s football programme.

Amec’s Chief Executive Samir Brikho said a record order book of £3.9bn would restart growth. There has been weak demand from the struggling mining industry but this has been offset by growth in the infrastructure areas of oil and gas, renewables and environmental.
Amec have won a contract to build a solar energy project in Las Vegas from Sempra US Gas & Power which is expected to create 300 jobs and generate enough energy for 80,000 US homes.

Congratulations to McGinley apprentices Paul Pearman and Jimmy Wiggins on being short listed last week in the National Construction College London & South Awards 2013. Paul went on to win the overall construction apprentice after being nominated by BFK whilst working on the Crossrail project at Westbourne Park. More details to follow…
Well done to Billy McNeill, Operations Manager and Jamie Zineldin, Labour Manager, who took part in the 3 day, 130 mile C2C charity cycle from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. Organised by Balfour Beatty Rail in Sheffield, McGinley joined several teams taking on the challenge.
After an early 6am start on day 1 the team covered 63 miles, with only a few accidents. Day 2 saw arrival of the teams support driver Dave Adams, who cheered them on up and through the Hartside Summit which was a staggering 1903 feet. Billy covered 46 miles in total and Jamie covered 56 (although this is not because Jamie was ahead, unfortunately he got lost and followed the wrong group and ended doing the extra 10 miles). On day 3 the team covered the remaining 21 miles in good time, arriving at the finish line with the final of the 10 bikes they set out with!!
Overall all the teams that took part have raised over £8.000 to date, all of which will be donated to the two elected charities Cancer Research UK and The Cleveland Unit, James Cook Hospital in Middlesborough.

Congratulations to Sam Keenan Apprentice Administrator for ASSET.McGinley based in Sheffield.
Sam joined McGinley Support Services a year ago on an apprenticeship and has just completed an NVQ level 2 in Business Administration with Sheffield College.
Sam has shown maturity and conscientiousness beyond his 17 years and has thrived in a very demanding working environment. He is totally committed to the company and will be a major player in the future development of the training division. Due to his success Sam will now be studying for an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration but more importantly has now been taken on by MSS as a permanent Training Coordinator.
Congratulations Sam and we look forward to following your progress in your future with McGinley.
